Special Features
Special Features
Griplock is available ‘Loose / Floppy’, ‘Stiff / Stayput’ up to 76mm ID. If it is not required to be especially floppy or stayput the tubing is supplied with Medium Flexibility (Mid Flex) as standard. All sizes over 76mm ID will be supplied mid-flex. Please state the flexibility required in the notes section when placing your order.
Flow Direction
Our Griplock tubing provides a smooth surface particularly in one direction due to the design of its section. We recommend that our customers ensure that the media flow through our tubing follows the Flow Direction of the Hose. There are many benefits to this including protection of the media and tube in addition to ensuring Optimum Flow Characteristics. In addition, it helps prevent damage to the media or tube when used in conjunction with abrasive materials such as plastic pellets.
Flexibility
Griplock is available ‘Loose / Floppy’, ‘Stiff / Stayput’ up to 76mm ID. If it is not required to be especially floppy or stayput the tubing is supplied with Medium Flexibility (Mid Flex) as standard. All sizes over 76mm ID will be supplied mid-flex. Please state the flexibility required in the notes section when placing your order.
Stiff
By ‘squashing’ the tube during manufacture it creates a stiff product tube with increased air tightness & ‘stayput’ properties
Midflex
Our standard product is manufactured ‘midflex’ which is most popular and is ideal for most applications.
Floppy
By loosening the pressure on the tools during manufacture we produce a tube with maximum flexibility that moves freely.

What is a stripwound metal hose?
A stripwound metal hose is manufactured from a continuous metal strip that is formed into a flexible tube. Stainless Steel Griplock uses a fully interlocked construction, providing a combination of flexibility, mechanical strength and resistance to crushing.
What is the maximum operating temperature of Stainless Steel Griplock?
Stainless Steel Griplock has a maximum operating temperature of +650°C, making it suitable for many high-temperature industrial, ducting and exhaust applications.
Is Stainless Steel Griplock suitable for exhaust applications?
Yes. Stainless Steel Griplock can be used for suitable exhaust applications where a flexible metallic hose with good mechanical strength and high-temperature capability is required. The requirements of the individual installation should always be considered when selecting the appropriate hose.
Can Stainless Steel Griplock be used for dust and material handling?
Yes. Griplock can be used for dry bulk handling applications involving materials such as ash, dust, grain, paper trim and plastic pellets. The hose design provides good flow characteristics while its stainless steel construction offers high mechanical strength.
What sizes of Stainless Steel Griplock are available?
Stainless Steel Griplock is available in a wide range of inside diameters, from 6mm up to 457mm. Please refer to the Technical Data section for individual dimensions, outside diameters, bend radii and weights. Intermediate sizes may also be available on request.
Can Stainless Steel Griplock absorb vibration and movement?
Yes. The flexible stripwound construction makes Griplock particularly well suited to applications involving vibration and movement. It can also be used in applications where thermal expansion and noise attenuation need to be considered.
Can I order Stainless Steel Griplock in non-standard sizes or lengths?
Yes. Stainless Steel Griplock can be supplied in non-standard lengths, and intermediate diameters may also be available. Please contact us with your required inside diameter, length and application details so that we can advise on availability.
